Architect (Dr.) Eric-Williams Itembanye Akpo

Born on the 30th of April, 1979 to the family of Chief Francis Ingwubel Akpo and Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Uyilowhoma Akpo, the Architect has been through a number of schools in his formative years having attended Regina Caeli Nursery School Obudu, St. Charles’ Primary School Obudu, Pope John Paul II Junior Seminary Okpoma, Government Secondary School Obudu and Federal Science College Ogoja before proceeding to The Polytechnic Calabar (now CRUTECH) where he obtained both OND and HND qualifications in Architecture. He later obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Environmental Law and Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA via Coursera. He also holds a Master Class Certificate in Business Management & Leadership from the London Graduate School and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Honoris Causa from the Commonwealth University.
Eric is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC).

Mr Akpo has broad working experience having worked in the private sector as an Architect with Kostarget Projects Ltd, Lagos and as a Relationship Officer with the defunct Intercontinental Bank Plc. in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He has also been a Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) to the then Distinguished Senator Professor Benedict Ayade while representing the Cross River North Senatorial District at the National Assembly in Abuja. In the Public Service, Arc. Eric Akpo is presently a Senior Technical Officer with the National Oil Spill Detection and Reference Agency, NOSDRA. He has been on Leave of Absence since June 2015 as he was called to bring his experience to bear in the service of the State as a Senior Special Adviser Technical to His Excellency Senator Professor Benedict Ayade. He is also currently the Acting Director-General of the State Electrification Agency, SEA. He also seats on the Cross River State Debt Review and Project Development Commission, CRSDRPDC as a member.

An easy-going man, simple and down-to-earth, appropriately described as meek and humble of heart, Eric-Williams has gained a lot of social exposure being a member, multi-board member and Local Organization President of the Junior Chamber International, JCI a worldwide organization of young active citizens who are conglomerated with a focus of creating a positive change. As a student, Eric was a celebrated unionist who led the caucus and the entire students of The Polytechnic Calabar / Cross River State University of Technology, CRUTECH.

Eric is the founder of MAY & FRANK YOUTH AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION, MFAF, A foundation whose vision is to create ”a world where every child is adequately cared for and the youths who are our future leaders properly mentored”. The foundation currently has six (6) children on full scholarship and provides lunch daily for many homeless street kids. The Foundation hopes to cater for 2000-2500 children across the country in the next 3 years. His humanitarian efforts and youth mentorship has earned him a great number of awards and honours.

A devout Catholic, a member of the Board of Lectors, the Husband of Arit and the father of Mary-Von, Erica-Winnie, Ben-Linda and Angelique-Phil, Eric is a supporter of youths and a man whose heart persistently tilts towards the good, though not flawless; his tireless commitment to youth development is evident in his numerous engagements with the youths and as professed by the many youths who have encountered him.
